Amira Tal-Henig

Amira Tal-Henig

Amira is the owner and a physical therapist at Healing Hands Physical Therapy. She has over 37 years of physical therapy experience and has studied in the United States, England, and Israel. Amira feels honored to be a part of her patient’s healing process and finds fulfillment in seeing her patients achieve their goals. Through her passion, creativity, and commitment, she has brought her vision of an integrative physical therapy practice to Ann Arbor.

Amira incorporates manual therapy techniques such as muscle energy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation. In addition, she provides therapeutic exercises targeted to the specific dysfunction of each patient. Amira works to educate patients in preventative and self-care techniques so that they can transition from a place of injury to a place of well-being.

Amira’s areas of expertise include manual therapy for the treatment of headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, peripheral joint dysfunction, women’s health, and trauma healing.  Amira has advanced training in a wide variety of manual therapy techniques, the Alexander technique, Herman and Wallace Institute for pelvic pain women’s health studies, TMJ disorders, and the Integrated System Model.

In her free time, Amira enjoys spending time with her husband and three adult children. She enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking and hanging out with good friends.

Claire Grover

Claire Grover

Claire’s passion for human movement and coaching began when she was a toddler while watching her Mother operate her own personal training business. Claire has a background in athletics as a former gymnast, diver, CrossFit athlete, and Olympic weightlifter. She was on the Track and Field team at the University of Michigan where she was a Pole Vaulter during her undergraduate studies. She also completed her Masters of Kinesiology from The University of Michigan where she gained research experience and published works on jaw mechanics and TMD. 

Claire graduated from Tufts University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2022. She has a passion for manual therapy and plans to enjoys working with all types of patients including athletes, TMD, vestibular, and general orthopedic care.

Caitlyn Smith

Caitlyn Smith
PT, DPT

Caitlyn is an upbeat therapist who has been treating orthopedic conditions since graduating from Grand Valley State University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2017. After graduation, she pursued post-professional education in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (McKenzie Method). She enjoys treating orthopedic injuries and surgeries involving the neck, back, shoulders, knees, and ankles. 
Caitlyn is passionate about helping her patients adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors to not only treat their current conditions but to maintain quality of life and prevent future occurrences of symptoms. Her motivation to help others achieve optimal health is driven by her desire for everyone to engage in meaningful activities across the lifespan, whether that is spending time with family and friends or accomplishing a physical feat.
When she is not treating patients, Caitlyn enjoys spending time with her family, working out, road biking, mountain biking, and cooking plant-based meals to fuel her activity. She has completed several multi-day bike tours with her mother, including a 6 day ride across Michigan, and a handful of century rides (100 mi).

Hannah Mills

Hannah Mills
PT, DPT

Hannah is a strong believer that women deserve better healthcare which is why she has dedicated her career to helping empower individuals to live long, happy, and healthy lives optimized through movement. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in movement science, Hannah pursued physical therapy school at Baylor University where she sought out advanced education and clinical mentorship within the field of pelvic health and obstetrics to best serve the needs of her future patients. 

Following graduate school, Hannah moved back to Michigan with the goal to expand access to women’s health physical therapy services in her home state. She joins us at Healing Hands with an eager attitude to help patients through conditions that are commonly ignored like incontinence, urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, chronic low back, pelvic pain, pregnancy, and postpartum rehab, and so much more.  

Hannah’s approach to physical therapy focuses on facilitating the healing process by adapting her care to best fit the needs of each individual. She uses a variety of techniques to not only treat impairments but uncover their root cause to optimize patient outcomes. While Hannah has advanced training in pelvic health, as a holistic practitioner she incorporates assessment and treatment of the entire musculoskeletal system as well as the nervous system into every session. Patient education is at the forefront of her care and Hannah aims to help all of her patients understand what is going on so that they are able to take back control of their lives.

When she’s not at the clinic, Hannah loves to stay active and teaches at a local gym as a group fitness instructor. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and close friends, especially while rooting on the Wolverines.

Katie Beard

Katie Beard

Katie always knew she wanted to work in physical therapy. Katie started her journey at Grand Valley State University where she got her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science in 2006. Later, she joined the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Washtenaw Community College where she received training from a team of excellent teachers and clinical instructors. Katie graduated in 2012 from WCC as a PTA. She has been with Healing Hands Physical Therapy ever since.

Katie is a native of the Ann Arbor area. She found her niche in physical therapy when she learned of Healing Hands’ holistic approach and outstanding reputation. She collaborates with her co-workers to provide the best possible care for each patient. Katie is currently practicing in Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapies. She is proficient in finding the root cause of a person’s condition and provides the finest care to heal the whole person. Keli Schneberger

Keli Schneberger
PT, MPT

Keli joined Healing Hands as a physical therapist with 30 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy. She began her career at St. Joseph Hospital before moving to Portland, Oregon. During her time in in Portland, she began her journey into alternative physical therapy approaches with an emphasis on indirect manual therapy methods. She returned to Ann Arbor in 2004 and worked at Chelsea Community Hospital for 15 years. She also has a private practice as a certified Bowen practitioner and Watsu (water shiatsu) practitioner working to maximize wellness.

Keli is skilled in the treatment of all extremities and the spine.  She enjoys working with babies with latching problems, Ehlers-Danlos patients, breast health including post-cancer and reconstruction (lumpectomies, mastectomies, implants, TRAM flaps), patients with abdominal pain, aquatic therapy clients, and the treatments of headaches, whiplash, and temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction. She has recently started working with pregnant mothers with breech babies and would like to help women have the best possible birthing experience.

Keli’s continuing education has focused on Bowenwork, visceral mobilization, integrative manual therapy techniques, craniosacral, strain-counterstrain, McConnell taping, neuro-tissue mobilization, and myofascial release.

When she is not seeing clients, she enjoys biking (mountain, gravel, road, and winter fat-bike), swimming, kayaking and hiking.

Kim Lindblade

Kim Lindblade

Kim is an experienced outpatient orthopedic and manual therapist with an interest and specialty in spine rehabilitation. Kim’s clinical career began as a physical therapy assistant working in outpatient orthopedics in 2004.  She continued her studies while working and earned her physical therapy degree in 2014. 

Kim developed a passion for manual therapy and believes strongly in its value and effectiveness in improving outcomes and helping patients achieve their goals. Kim believes in the importance of spending quality, hands-on time with patients and is passionate about improving their quality of life.

Kim is currently working towards certification as a Certified Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist (COMT).  Kim also has advanced training in muscle energy techniques, functional massage, and treatment of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine and pelvis.

In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two children and likes to paddle board, hike and run on the various trails surrounding Ann Arbor.

Lee Hymes

Lee Hymes
PT, DPT

Lee came to  Healing Hands in 2023 having practiced since 2014, and brings intensive experience in the areas of gait, amputee and prosthetic rehab, and neurological PT.  They are certified as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist, an LSVT/BIG practitioner, and a Rock Steady boxing coach for people with Parkinson's Disease. 

Lee's prior career as a teacher has informed their practice, lending a focus on patient education and understanding, as well as a commitment to continued professional learning. 

Lee cofounded an affiliate location of Rock Steady Boxing in Richmond, VA, which has assisted countless area residents in their fight against the progression of Parkinson's.  

Lee seeks to offer compassionate, creative, evidence-based, and effective therapy to every kind of person who needs it, and they feel very fortunate to be a part of the Healing Hands team. 

When not practicing physical therapy, Lee likes to play the bass guitar, ride their e-bike around town, make and collect visual art, and spend time with their highly active and musical family. You might see them at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase having a good laugh.

Renee Kirbs

Renee Kirbs

Renee joined Healing Hands with more than 40 years of clinical experience.  Most of her career was spent as owner and operator of an outpatient orthopedic clinic with a special interest in low back pain, neck pain, chronic pain, extremities, and occupational medicine. She also has experience in acute care and home healthcare.  She is committed to the integration of the best scientific evidence in consideration of her patient’s values and personal life-long learning to ensure the best possible outcomes for her patients.  Clinical skills include; manual therapy techniques (manipulation/mobilizations), dry needling, muscle energy techniques, and myofascial release. She considers herself to take a holistic approach to physical therapy using traditional medicine to address an injury but also addressing all aspects of health which may be contributing to a specific physical condition.  

Renee utilizes the regional interdependence model in her management of musculoskeletal disorders. This approach allows her to recognize unrelated impairments in remote anatomical locations.

Renee was a long-time resident of Saline, Michigan where she raised 3 children.  While in Saline, she was active in many school organizations.  She was also very involved in civic and service-oriented activities having served as president of the local Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer for Rotary, and interim member of the Local Development Finance Authority for the City of Saline.  She currently resides in Hamburg Township. 

She believes that a culture of professional ethics, clinical expertise, and personal commitment delivers the best value and highest quality of service to her patients.

Mark Beissel

Mark Beissel

Mark has 47 years of experience as a physical therapist specializing in manual therapy and orthopedics. He owned Orthopedic Therapy, Inc. in Jackson, Michigan for 35 years and has 10 years in outpatient hospital practice. Previous to joining Healing Hands, Mark was a member of the back care team at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital, working closely with the orthopedic physicians in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Mark’s special interests include working with acute, chronic, and post-surgical rehabilitation of spine and extremities, especially neck pain and related headaches. Mark is experienced in a wide variety of manual therapy techniques.

Mark has over 1300 hours of post graduate continuing education course focusing on orthopedics and manual therapy. His advanced training includes joint mobilization, craniosacral therapy, muscle energy techniques, and soft tissue mobilization techniques including Gua Sha.

Melissa Hartenstein

Melissa Hartenstein

Melissa joined the Healing Hands team with over 17 years of outpatient orthopedic experience, 14 of those at Chelsea Community Hospital/St Joseph Mercy - Chelsea.  Melissa places great value in working with a strong team which allows for collaboration with colleagues to find the best treatment techniques to assist patients in becoming the best version of themselves. 

Melissa believes patient treatment is successful with a mixture of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and education to enable patients to assist themselves long after their time at physical therapy is completed. Melissa especially enjoys working with sacroiliac dysfunctions, muscle strains and imbalances that benefit from tissue mobilization and myofascial release, spinal and extremity joint dysfunction that benefits from joint mobilization and movement retraining, post-surgical patients, and individuals in need of movement analysis and neuromuscular re-education.

Melissa’s continuing education courses have helped to shape her treatment plans. Her advanced training includes courses in muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, myofascial release and Kinesio-taping techniques. 

Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and taking walks with her husband and son. She values the time she is able spends with her family and friends, enjoying nature in the Ann Arbor Area, and camping with extended family each summer.

Sara Thorne

Sara Thorne

Sara was drawn to the profession of physical therapy based on her passion for movement and exercise. She played varsity soccer and tennis in college, and currently enjoys running and yoga. She worked for the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL, Duke Health in Durham, NC, and the Cleveland Clinic in Wooster, OH. She brings over 20 years of experience in orthopedic physical therapy to our practice, and is happy to have found her forever home in Ann Arbor.

She enjoys getting to know her patients and their specific interests to better tailor treatment sessions, and help achieve their goals. Sara creates a warm and welcoming space for her patients.

Throughout her career, Sara has pursued continuing education to expand and hone her manual therapy skill set. She is trained in Functional Dry Needling, Graston instrument assisted soft tissue technique, and has completed many Maitland spine and peripheral joint mobilization courses. She has had additional training in the evaluation and management of headaches, neck, facial and jaw pain. Sara also specializes in seeing patients with urinary incontinence. 

When she isn’t at work, Sara loves spending time outdoors going on walks, hikes, or runs with her family and two dogs.

Teresa Passamani

Teresa Passamani

Teresa joined Healing Hands PT in 2022 with more than 29 years experience in various treatment settings due to her living in several different states.  She has worked with patients in skilled nursing facilities that were long term care and rehabilitation to home.  Teresa has performed many home evaluations with modifications in order for a patient to be independent and safe when they returned to independent living.  She was fortunate to treat patients in their home environment with home health physical therapy helping them recover from a hospitalization. 

Teresa has also worked within inpatient rehab in a hospital setting with with post surgical as well as deconditioned patients. She has worked many years in an outpatient orthopedic and neurological rehab settings, both within hospital based clinics and private practice.

With her various work experience, Teresa has had the opportunity to help patient’s of all ages ranging from 5 years to 104 years old. Teresa has enjoyed assisting with sport related injuries on the sidelines at high school football games with the ATC and team physician. She has rehabilitated many athletes to return to their sport.

Teresa has elevated her knowledge of physical therapy with many continuing education courses over the years including MET (muscle energy), strain/counterstrain, joint mobilization, functional massage, evaluating the running athlete, and craniosacral.  She has obtained a certification as a Hesch Sacroiliac Practitioner.  Teresa has therapeutically treated patients with injuries of extremity and spine in addition to post surgical.  She has experience in patient care of neurologic disorders and balance dysfunctions. 

Teresa enjoys her job with her goal to educate and enhance the patients quality of life.  When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as traveling to the U.P.

Yohan Park

Yohan Park

Yohan Park is a dedicated physical therapist whose passion for biomechanics and body alignment shines through in every aspect of his practice. From an early age, Yohan was fascinated by the intricate interplay between muscles, bones, and movement, driving him to pursue a career where he could help others achieve optimal function and well-being.  

With a deep understanding of biomechanics, Yohan approaches each patient with a holistic perspective, recognizing that true healing involves more than just treating symptoms — it requires addressing the root cause of discomfort and imbalance. Through personalized exercise programs combined with manual therapy tailored to each individual's needs, he empowers his patients to take an active role in their recovery, guiding them toward improved posture, strength, and flexibility.  

Yohan believes in the transformative power of movement, seeing it not only as a means of rehabilitation but also as a pathway to reclaiming joy and vitality in life. His compassionate approach and unwavering commitment to his patient's well-being inspire trust and confidence, fostering a therapeutic relationship built on mutual respect and collaboration. With Yohan's guidance, patients embark on a journey of self-discovery, reclaiming control over their bodies and ultimately, their lives.

Outside of the clinic, Yohan loves to stay active and participate in various activities such as rock-climbing, bowling, tennis, and working out at the gym. In his free time, he loves hunting for good coffee shops and restaurants.
